Brevard County Real Estate Market Report for June 2022

Unemployment Rates

A healthy economy has a 3-5% unemployment rate, however a 3-5% unemployment rate does not always indicate a healthy economy.

National Unemployment Rate

2021 2022

Adams Insight: A stable unemployment rate is a powerful indicator. The United States unemployment rate has finally stabilized in the 3.5%-4.0% range. Dow Jones estimated the rate was going to increase 0.2%, but we only had a slight increase over May. It is very difficult to employees, from painters to accountants.

Florida Unemployment Rate

2021 2022

February 5.6% 3.3%

March 5.4% 3.2%

April 5.1% 3.0%

May 4.9% 3.0%

June 4.8% 2.8%

July 4.5%

August 4.3%

September 3.9%

October 3.7%

November 3.5%

December 3.5%

Adams Insight: Florida's economy is based on tourism. The raising gas prices and inflation should curb vacations, however, Brevard County is still as busy as ever. As the national unemployment rates increases, Florida continues to decrease.

Adams Insight: June is usually a seasonal peak, yet Brevard County only sold a few more houses than in April. As the interest rates increase and inflation continues to grow we will see fewer homes each month. In 2021, almost 200 more homes sold than in 2022. I foresee this trend continuing until something changes (inflation, interest rates, economy).
